I have a friend that posts a lot of political things on Twitter and Facebook. Some of it, I feel, is inflammatory. Should I disconnect with this friend on social media? I am afraid of guilt by association.

The truth is that you are in a negotiation whether you are actively negotiating or not. If you choose not to negotiate a new job offer, are you okay with a suboptimal outcome? Michael Jordan said it best, “You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.”

While some people may know their purpose early, the vast majority of people do not. You may be mid-career and still do not have a clear picture of your career purpose. That’s okay. It is not too late to figure it out.

Wouldn’t you like to know an effective way to follow up with decision-makers after an interview? Following up with a company after an interview does not need to be hard or stressful. Like other parts of your job search, if you have a strategy for interview follow up, you will be more effective and get better results.

Review your resume and see if you are making any of these mistakes. Fix them right away. You will feel better about how you present yourself to recruiters.
